The wife and myself are having a weekend break starting in Bristol tomorrow afternoon, then on to newport Cardif and maybe Swansea over Sunday and Monday.

Anyone have and good tips for photo locations?

Cheers Gav

As per another post:-

  • Clifton Suspension Bridge and the Avon Gorge, also good sunset potential.
  • Nearby Waterfront with SS Great Britain, The Matthew, boatbuilding yard, yachting, people, old dock cranes, dock railway (disused but sometimes run a tourist steam train), possibly some cormorants.
  • Millenium Square - the 'mirror ball', water features and 'night lights' opportunities.
  • Temple Quay - canal boats, feature offices and a steel bridge.
  • Corn Street - see 'The Nails', source of the expression 'on the nail' and adjacent indoor market area.

hope you don't mind Gavin...

just to save starting a new thread on the same location/area

does anyone know of any good spots to get decent pics of the Severn crossing? It needs to be quite close to the motorway as I'll be with my boss and I doubt whether he'd appreciate a mad trek lol

Severn Beach will get you right underneath it if you want :)

I'll be at Avonmouth near the A403 so not bad at all

Porthcawl. Newton beach. Really nice long beach, dog friendly.

Agree with Byker here, I live in porthcawl and Newton is the quietest and more picturesque of all the beach's in the area.

I visit about 3 times a year so there's plenty of images dotted around my website.I should actually get out with the camera a lot more than what I actually do when I'm down there.

Also don't forget just up the road is Caerphilly Castle and other places like Barry.Monmouth is a great little town about 20 mins drive from Newport.

Cheers
