I am off the the Brecon Beacons for the first time next week, and am wondering about good wildlife sites. We are planning to go to the Red Kite Centre at Llandeusant, and I have read that dippers are common (one of my favourite birds which I would love to see) but otherwise I haven't had much joy on the Internet looking for hopeful sites - can anyone recommend anywhere? We are staying at Upper Neuadd Reservoir under Pen Y Fan.
Thanks in anticipation.

If you travel north on the A470 from Storey arms you come to a sharp right hand bend (there is usually a burger van in the carpark on the bend) carry on toward Brecon for about 1m on the left is a layby and opposite the layby is a gate with a style. If you go over the style you will be in a small reserve which holds a variety of woodland birds including marsh tit.In the layby there is another style with a path that will take you up a valley where you might see raven, peregrine, red kite as well as other birds. Llangorse lake is also a good site for ducks, herons, grebes and a host of other birds. If you are going further up to Gigrin farm go a bit earlier and spend a few hours at Gilfach farm reserve for dippers. I have seen otter at Llwyn onn reservoir which is south of Storey arms on the A470.Hope this helps.

you are welcome.
