Well, last night and today have been more than averagely interesting. Looks like we'll be guest starring on tonight's episode of CSI Maidenhead...

I'm guessing your inventory systems are better than average Stewart. Lets hope that stops the thieving toe-rags moving them on.

Omg that's terrible ,you got away lightly by the sound of it ,might be worth getting some ears out round the pubs in Slough and Cippenham

Hope they get caught. They've done well for such a short period of time. Hope the police and scene of crime officers were there quickly. Did they walk you around? I found it fascinating when I was done over the things these guys (and girls) see and spot.

Sorry you got robbed Stewart, but at least they didn't get more.

Too many dodgy pubs in Slough and Cippenham, not enough eyes and ears. Unfortunately.

The response time from when I called the police (101, not 999, because it wasn't an emergency) to when the officer arrived was 50 minutes. It seemed longer at the time, but I guess it's not unreasonable in the middle of the night.

CSI were on site yesterday. (Yes, they really are called CSI, at least here in the Thames Valley Police area. They don't have SOCOs any more because they're civilians, not officers.) They were good, but unfortunately they thought the officer who initially attended had not been particularly on the ball as far as preservation of the crime scene was concerned:
  • That big Peli-type case in the corridor had clearly been handled by the intruders. It was useless for fingerprints, because it's not a smooth surface, but the officer should have known that swabs from the handles could have yielded useful DNA. Unfortunately he didn't mention that and didn't require me to take any precautions with regard to handling it when I put it away.
  • The officer told me it was OK to clear away all the broken glass. That was a mistake too, apparently, because smashing a big window like that puts micro glass particles into the air, and they could be recovered from the hair or clothes of a suspect and matched with the glass from the window. Or at least they could have, if we hadn't put all the broken glass in the wheely bin which breaks the chain of custody.
So I'm not hopeful that the forensics will yield anything useful, though I can't complain the CSI guys didn't try.

Meanwhile my staff and I are trawling the other buildings in the area to find out who has CCTV that might have seen the getaway car. Fingers crossed...

Was that a window they took out?
Internal plate glass window between our office and the communal corridor in our multi-occupancy building. They first had to break into the building, and then they broke into our office.

So targeted attack then. Lets hope CCTV shows up something.

Edit: Have you any cctv in the office? Thoughts of getting any?

Sorry that has happened Stewart. Hope they are found and you get back on track asap.

B*stards.... would it help if i trawled gumtree around that area looking for Nik / Can lenses...

Well, we're doing that, but it's always possible to miss things. If you have the odd 5 minutes to spare and you're willing to help, I'd be very grateful. Ta.

Cheers. We're back on track already: no customers' hires will be affect by this. But yeah, I want to find them even if the police aren't terribly interested.
