brand new lens and damaged box ?

Hi.
I came across a lens on ebay.
Seller says its brand new but the box got damaged in the transport... I dont know how to look on this one...
Dont think its scam as its a quite big ebay shop and they have quite a lot lenses for sale. They are based in London so I could pick it up and have a look on the lens before paying...
But do you think that damaged box should affect the final price ? if yes, by how much ?

Got somthing similar at Focus, the box was damaged, was told it was new, was still sealed, got home and the 40D was mint, was reflected in price, so would say if you can see it and the price is right go for it.

Just as an Idea the 40D cost me £450

Had a similar thing - box was water damaged but the lens was in a plastic bag and wrapped enough to be water tight (those plastic things are about 4x too big) - got it at about 20% of usual price because of it
