bradford photography club

Might give this a try next time I have a Thursday off. Is there a joining fee ?

I've looked at their syllabus before - the brother of someone I work with goes to it.

Problem with anything like this is Sue works shifts so she wouldn't always be able to go. It's only a few minutes away from work though.

I've only just found this topic...

I've been a member of the Bradford Photographic Society since early this year. I've probably been to half of the meetings. The new season starts next week (4th Sept).

There's 30-odd (not 30 odd) members of various ages and experience (amateur and pro) and interests/specialisations. The meetings are part peer-support / social, and part presentational - where some members take turns talking on a specialist subject or guest speakers are invited. There's also a variety of club and inter-club competitions as well as field trips of a random nature, and practical evenings like still life or portraiture etc.

The new 'syllabus' is on the website now. Come along and have a look.

didnt know there was one so close

I'll definitely be going to one of them

Think I may pop along tomorrow night, can you just turn up?

Yeah, no problem. No obligation to join straight away. Tomorrow is a portrait workshop, so some members will be bringing gear/lighting etc., some will come without. Bring your kit if you feel like it, or just come and watch.

Excellent thanks, I'll bring my gear.

Yes I do - Have been going now for 2 years or so - is there anything you particually want to know about it???

Regards

Michelle

Bloomin' 'eck, this is an old post.....and theres a club in Bradford.

Idle photographers club sounds right up my street.....sorry, i know that jokes been done loads of times. So whats it like? Is it traditionalist or contempory, what goes on? Tried the website but, like Bradford, doesnt seem to be working at the moment.:)

Bradford Photographic Society has been getting a bit of publicity lately. We've had a couple of articles in the Telegraph & Argus, a programme on BCB Radio, and been featured in this month's (July) Digital SLR User magazine. At this rate, we're going to need media training ;)
To all those ditherers, why not try to make a meeting in the new season, starting in September. Meetings are every Thursday at 7.30pm. See the website for details.

Hi, I am a newbie, just put up my first post and had been wondering about coming along to your meets. Do you start again next Thursday and is there room for one more:)?

Yes, it's still running. They celebrated 150 years last year. Some of the founders are still there. ;)

I am thinking about going today, is there any special requirements?

Thanks for bumping this, I'll be moving to Bradford uni in a few weeks so this could be something else to do. :D

Are there any other students that go?

Thanks, guess I'll check it out in a few weeks.

All the links and post's are for the Bradford Photographic Society and as far as I know there is also a Bradford Camera club in Carlton House, Little Horton lane which also meets on a thursday.

So there's a 'Club' and 'Society' to name but two.....Will have to try both
