Hi,
I have had my DSR for a few months now and what suprises me is that when using the various bracketing settings it seems i have to take 3 actual pictures.
Now my Fuji S9500 camera allows auto bracketing where one only needs to take 1 picture and it produces 3 images of different variation, which is good if i take a pic of a moving subject.

I'm suprised my DSLR doesnt have this feature, or does it ??? Nikon D90.

What about other DSLRs, do they??

Am i missing the point somewhere and being a bit dim?:cuckoo:

That's what bracketing is supposed to be. The problem with creating 3 from one shot is that you don't save any detail. If highlights are completely blown out they will not be rescued in the darker image. If you want 3 images from 1 file shoot in raw, adjust the brightness and save to 3 different jpegs.

A sensor can only capture a limited dynamic range (approx. 6 stops of light). Bracketing is designed to enhance the dynamic range of a picture. What your fuji was doing was producing 2 artificial exposures from the correct one to show the full detail that was captured on the sensor from one exposure. The dynamic range of the shot is still limited to 6 stops but all the detail the sensor recorded has been utilised. This can be done with any photo in PP. Bracketing from 3 separate exposures combines the dynamic range of several photographs. Supposing the dynamic range captured in each image is 6 stops then by combining 3 different exposure you can effectively produce an image with a dynamic range of up to 18 stops (6+6+6).

bracketing is a term for taking shots at + ! and -
so thats 3 at least...to give the {shot} brackets...

the very one you want will be the + or -

i dont use bracketing since i have time to look, see, ditch and the retake...up to 5 shots then do the maths at home

simple is simple...my epitaph
