I'm off to a wedding in November in Boston USA. Does anyone have any good recommendations of where to go / what to take pics of? Going to be around the area for about a week.

Most of it's photogenic. Lots of old buildings. The Beacon Hill district is particularly nice with cobbled streets and gas lamps.

Take one of the tour trolleys. Very useful to find out what there is to see. Hop on hop off. Be prepared for the "Are there any British on here?" question, and the subsequent amiable digs. They love their Boston Massacre, where a whole five people were killed.

The Prudential building has an observation deck 50 floors up. Some nice sights.

All you need to know here:

Beacon hill is a must, go to chestnut st to find a great house where nearly all of the windows are purple because of a fault in the glass, apparently the manganese has reacted with the sun and turned some of the panes purple and some of the owners have put White shutters behind to show them of. If I remember it is number 29a and some of the walking tours stop by the house. The common and the park are great and the trolly is the best way to get around for a couple of days but it is easy to walk around. I went on the freedom trail tour and the guides wear period costume and will pose for photos, if you have time for a ferry trip go up the coast to Salem, the witch's house is spooky and you can get some great views of Boston from the harbour.Quincey Market and Faneuil Hall are busy areas so night shots or an early morning is better! I loved it and am jealous so enjoy and the Cheers bar does some good food!

thanks for the ideas :) will deffo have to take a look at the suggested areas!

We picked up some local 'walking' maps and followed where they led. Saw lots of interesting places and were able to pick and choose what would interest us the most.

I can't remember exactly which maps we used but

seems to have quite a few if you want to look in advance.

Be wary of mappery.com if you are googling as AVG was picking up threats from any link to/on it.

The Prudential building is has excellent views but last time we were up there the windows were very dirty.

Just do the Freedom Trail there's loads to see and snap on that.

We'll be there in September, also try to catch the Blue Man Group at the Charles Street Theatre, very small place and great show.
