Ive been sidelined for the past 2 weeks following total knee replacement surgery...apart from the pain tbe worst part is being stuck in the house...ive neen out for short walks a couple of times but im honestly sick to death of sitting on my arse watching crap on telly...ive never been a stay in type person and ive got weeks of it to go.. ive thought about doing some still life type photography but its not really an interest in me as i prefer landscapes...any suggestions to help me keep my sanity before i hit the bottle

maybe go through some old photos and re edit them, I have been doing that recently
My other half is waiting for her knee replacement operation hope yours went okay

think macro landscape if you can get to the garden or a local park, push your creativity for macro landscapes

Maybe a daily shot of the new knee to document the wound healing and the swelling going down. Won't use up much time but every little helps!

yes, that is part of my plan , not so much editing but il probably sort out the catalogue, knee is still tender so sitting at my desk for long periods is painful, good luck with your misus knee, il not lie its bloody sore, but im 2 weeks in and only using morphine based analgesics for my excersises, my knee was a bit more problematic for them as i had 25mm missing from my tibia , normally knees take 1.5 hours, i was nearly 4 and the spinal block had started wearing off so i could feel them hammering the pins into my bones, them putting tyhe clips in and the torniquet round the top of my thigh...but saying that encourage her to stay awake for it i think its worth it( ive died for a whilst under anaesthetic attempting the same operation so ive got to say that)

While I would not be envious of a knee replacement so best wishes for your recovery. I have been suffering from Plantar Fasciitis for around 12 months now which has really curtailed my photography. The only recommended treatment is rest. Every time it eases up, I try another short walk say 1/2 mile and that is too much. It is almost impossible to plan any future photoshoots as most involve too much walking or standing. I did go to Castle Coombe motor cycle racing in October as I could sit in my lightweight chair at Quarry Bank with a clear shot over the Safety fence. I need to plan for amazing landscapes which can be captured from within a few hundred metres of my car boot.

Try special insoles. Scholl, I think. Sorted it for me.

Can only repeat the insoles advice. As recommended by Chris the Cobra, I use Edison Elite ones (I get mine through the big river) in all my shoes and they've kept it at bay for me.

Dave/Brendan, looks like it's healing well. Hope the recovery continues.

I can still remember the staples being taken out of my scalp, with the surgeon who was doing it (all the nurses were busy and "Baby Cat" [her chosen nickname!] had come to see me on the morning of my release to wish me well and decided to remove them rather than leave it to the GP) apologising after every single one!
