Edit My Images
Yes
Hi, downloaded the 10 day trial yesterday, it looks like a great piece of software for the money and would like to buy it.........but. I like to add a border to my images and sometimes a stroke border too, easy in Elements, just resize canvas pick colour, and click your'e done. Affinity though it seems you have to go through a right palaver using layers, unclicking backgrounds and dragging boxes etc, to simply add a border. This was on a tutorial BTW, anyone know a simpler method with Affinity as I really like the software but this is a deal breaker for me.

I cant help you jack but might be worth throwing the guys on the Affinity forum the question.

Jack try this

Resize canvas
In document menu - un-tick transparency background
Pick your colour
Select the brush tool
Paint the border
Done

That's great dcash29 thanks a lot, not as intuitive as Elements but a lot easier than the tutorial I watched, looks like a purchase now.

Cheers ssssnake;) I had a quick look on there but didn't see anything that helpful really.(y)

Both the above methods are OK if you want a wide border, but are unnecessarily complicated.
At our club many people (myself included) like to have a 1 or 2 pixel border ("key line") around our projected images.

There is a "Border" command in Affinity.
Make sure your image is flattened by using the "Flatten" command under "Document"
Next, make sure you have the Document selected with the Move Tool (The arrow)
Select "fx" at the bottom of the Layers panel and the "Layer Effects" panel will open.
Tick the "Outline" box and you are given the options:
Blend Mode
Opacity
Radius (pixels)
Alignment (Outside/Centre/Inside)
Fill Style (Solid Color/Contour/Gradient)
Color
Just select 1 or 2 pixels, and the colour you want.
I always add the border "Inside" since the image size is already defined and it is then immediately visible.
If you add the border "Outside" your image you will have to resize (enlarge) the image in order to see it.
