I used to do this with flower shots a couple of years ago...this has so much more impact! Excellent job!

I think we should all have a go and post our efforts waddayulotfink?

Absolutely stunning effect Mike

Definately! I feel all inspired now! :D

Thanks for the comments:thumbs: I was feeling bored haven't not taken any photos for a while, so I thought I'd have a go at honing my photoshop skills.

I think Marianne's idea is a good one too :)

scouring my folders for a suitable image this very moment...I told Barry I was going to do some knitting on my newly cleaned up old machine form my previous life but this is sort of similar...Barry has gone food shopping BTW ;)

Quite often I find effects like these a little tired and cheesey. I REALLY like this one though. Perfect choice of subject and great execution there.

Personally, I think it might look even better with the support beam inside the frame.

here's my idea....I didn't use the video tute that Mike posted....I used layers and layer masks and lassos and stuff ;) ....do you want to start a new thread for us to post in or is it ok to post in here?

now I really am going to go and do some knitting...I'm making Christmas presents so its a sort of job to do! :naughty:

I did something similar a few years back...

If I were you I'd take out the sky in the boat so you can see the frame behind it.

I looked at this earlier and thought it was good but something was not quite right....now I know what.

Like yours and Mariannes too.

Yup, exactly. Although Pete's suggestion has far more impact.

Good stuff, getting even better. :)

I see stuff like this, but very badly done, all the time in my local newspaper.

That boat looks fantastic, and Mariannes shot looks very good, the drop shadow really adds to the effect and works well.
