Not the best pic in the world can/does anyone know where I can get this boom arm from? It appatently fits onto Godox Wistro.

That's a really cheap boom, they're available on eBay, you can tell which one because it's only got a plastic ratchet on the pivot.

I'd suggest a cast metal one at least. The Witstro might look light, but along with a bracket it's a similar weight to a proper strobe. Not to mention the modifier adds loads more strain.

I can't find one on eBay cheaper than Lencarta.

I got a Lencarta one, best stand I've ever had, soooooo pleased with it, only thing I did not like was the adjustment handles were on the same side, now fixed :D

Also got a couple of standard stands and a reflector arm, can't say how pleased I am with them! Love it.

Indeed it is! On the video it seems to look like a hand held boom attached to the stand.

p.s. yes I'll classify you as sad ;)

Found it on the Adorama website, seems like there are a few companies (including some of the better known ones) doing similar things. Looks like a bit of homework is needed.

Attempting for a small home studio set up in the basement and head height is a very major issue.

How sturdy is the interfit? Have you had any problems with it? Also which version do you have? I see there are two different arms from them.
 
I will check later which one of the top of my head I honestly don't know it seems sturdy enough for the studio tbh would consider it good value for what it costs

mine is a interfit COR757 it seems sturdy enough for my needs I got mine from wex although I know lots of other places stock them hope this helps

I recall reading from Amazon the worst part about that Boom is the pivot clamp being a cheap plastic thing, easy enough to replace with a metal one though.

Hi. Just seen this thread and thought I would add my 2 pence worth. I have this one but I only use speedlights (don't have strobes) and have not used one prior so can't compare. That said I have had no reason to regret it.

Along with triggers plus a softbox (over a period of time). Someone reccomended them to me. They have been great.
I think the last one I bought was the cheapest one they did. £16.99 off memory. Not as good as there more exspensive one. Works fine but stiff to turn moving parts.I guess that must be down to materials / engineering used.

Sorry had forgot to reply. Unfortunately the boiler went on the blink, so had to have that sorted.

Will hopefully have one sorted early next month.

Sorry I missed your question. Yes the main/height pole is dampened although it doesnt say so. The boom arm that sends the strobe/flash out over your subject is not.
Not sure if you saw the clip from that page I linked to as it was hidden under the description tab. You get a better idea if it's what you are after.

A proper boom arm uses a tilt clamp like the lencarta one linked above.
You do *not* want a grip clamp. With a properly counterweighted tilt head the assembly smoothly changes elevation w/ no hassles.

With a grip clamp you have to loosen it far enough for it to "jump teeth" which is "notchy" at best. And worse, when it is loosened that far the boom arm can also rotate/slide within the clamp.
