Whats a good book to get for learning about digital photography?

Better half bought me:

The Digital Photography Handbook by Doug Harman

Its next to PC now......... ISBN: 978-1-84724-445-1

Not bad for £7

If you want to look into the photoshop side of things - couple of good "Photoshop xxxxxxxxxxx for dummies" - can usaually get off amazon trades for £5 or so + P&P s/h......

To be honest though - a wealth of information on here........ and t'interweb in general......

There are lots of books at different levels.

Can you give some details of what photographic knowledge you have, both film & digital, and if you want to learn about DSLRs or digital photography in general.

Andy Rouse has written a good introductory book "Digital SLR Handbook", jargon free, easy to read but not much good if you already know some stuff.

If you do already know a bit then these articles are very good http://www.ronbigelow.com/articles/articles.htm

Thanks, I am just learning about DSLR, never had one and will be buying one soon i just need to know more about them.

Ignore the D word for the time being - learn about photography (try "Understanding Exposure" and "Basic Photography" (Michael Langford) to get the gist of photograpy, all of which (apart from things like film choice and developing) apply to all aspects of the hobby rather than concentrating on the D bit of it.
Visit your local library and grab whatever there is on the shelves that deals with photography. Some of the books may be no help at all or too complicated at the moment (but make make sense later) but you can take them back and get others. If you find a book that you really get on with, keep an eye out in charity shops and 2nd hand bookshops and buy a copy.
Maybe sign up for a few evening classes or join a club. Read as much of the advice on this forum - have a look at older posts and read the thread of answers to any questions you want to ask. If there aren't any old posts covering your questions, ask them - they may have been answered in the past but be too far back.
Remember that lens has no e on the end!
Treat anything spouted by Ken Rockwell with a large pinch of salt.
Enjoy.
