I did a photoshoot this week in my studio and one shot has one kid with a blue halo around it, to get round it I put the pic in black and white, only problem is the mum has decided she wants this pic... in colour.

Any idea how I can get rid of the blue halo, Its only on 1 out of the 4 kids, prob the light closest to him was too bright.

I think I've heard it called Lens something or other before, so thought there might be a simple filter or something that might help.

Thanks

Allan

Example of the problem

That looks like the sort of CA you get round trees from some lenses. Maybe some PS filter that fixes Chromatic aberration will sort it out?

Colour replacement tool didnt work, but what I did was is this

1: Tweak Hue until Blue Glow is Red
2: Use Red Eye Rediction tool on glow
3: Reverse Hue Tweak to return normal skin tools

You will need to be careful going round the edges with the tool, if you bleed into the skin too much you could wreck it. I spent 30 seconds, just to see if it could work.

Sure someone will have a better way!!

Yeah I echo the above, using the chromatic aberration filter in camera raw is much easier and way more efficient.
I seriously recommend having a play next time you come across pink, purple, cyan fringes.

Although it must be said you have thought of a very inventive alternative

All the best

There are also 2 chromatic aberration sliders in Lightroom, Allan. You can get rid of red, blue purple fringes etc... works well.

Although I had to search back a long way to find a shot with any on!! ;)

Bonjour
I see you are using CS3 (and only in CS3 is this possible). If you no longer have the raw image go to the JPEG image in bridge right click on it and send it back to raw. Click the lens corrections tab and play with the sliders.

Or draw a loose selection around the area to confine the changes
Open hue and sat palette
Select the Blue colour in Edit
Squash sliders to gether at the bottom
Use left colour picker to select colour
Reduce saturation –100%
Colour being selected will turn gray
Use + picker to add to selection
Once colour is selected replace saturation to 0
Move Hue to required colour required colour

THANK YOU!
THANK YOU!
THANK YOU!, both to you guys on this thread and the "motley" crew on the talk photography iirc channel.

I opted for the option many had suggested the sliders on chromatic aberration, I used the ones in lightroom (for the first time ever), and now understand how they work. Some of the other techniques described I will be trying just so I can understand Photoshop that little bit more.

Thanks

Allan
