The PS3 has packed up and will be going in my sons bedroom when it comes back from repair by Sony.

SO I'm on the lookout for a Blu-Ray DVD player for the main HD TV in the lounge. Anyone got one that's good, recommendations, what not to buy etc?

Ta Muchly!

Sony S-350, you can hack it to multi region with a universial report or a laptop with IR port.

I have one, i only paid £150 and came with 5 BD !

That Sony 350 is a very reasonable machine for the money!

Whats 5 BD?

only multi region for DVD though not bluray and the 5 dvd promo is over, if you can still find one in asda they did come with 3 dvds in the box at christmas, hancock wall-e and mamma mia, you could get them to open one up to see if they're still in there as it didn't say anything on the box

I just bought a PS3 at Xmas just for the Blue Ray player as I've been told that it's about the best player there is at the moment. True or not I don't know.
It is....apparently! They do have an issue with the optical drive but hopefully that will have been sorted on the newer players. I may well keep the PS3 in the lounge as it is very good.

I got a 350 free, though I did have to buy a 40" TV to get it!

How did you apply the update?

The player is network enabled. Cabled it up it to my broadband router and selected Network Update from the menu.

oooh that sounds easy!, i'll have to remember that.

Cheers

panny bd55 or sony 350 or 550, the ps3 is good, but the PQ on the sony and panny are apparently better now. Look out for cheaper units now too, tesco and argos sell cheap cheapers.
