Ah well...in for a penny..got a 52 going as well & that alone takes up loads of my time:D

Bought a Tamron 90mm macro earlier this year & need to get to grips with it so :

at least 3 shots per week
all with the Tamron ( my only prime )
Possibly all gonna be done over a weekend & uploaded during the week
Will try something other than wildlife ! ( maybe )

1st up :

found this little fella in the garden today :

My crit ....probably to central ..need to work on cropping or getting closer !

2nd :

dead sunflower head...quite like this as an abstract . My crit...not totally happy with the focus

Learnt today : think more about whats in the view finder to reduce cropping :)

Square 1:1 crop on the spider ? but nice and sharp :)

I like the dead sunflower, great texture....

Good opening pair Lynne

That spider would make a nice Halloween card.

Lynne.. great start. we have loads of those little critters in the garden, can't move for webs...well lit too.. sunflower. great abstract like said. big

Agree with Martin - square crop on the spider, nothing wrong with it being central. Lovely and sharp

Focus is OK on part of the sunflower, you just need a bit more DOF.

nice start Lynn. Nice to see you challenging yourself at every opportunity

Thanks...do you mean I should have cropped it square instead of oblong ?

cheers

Hi ya...keep thinking about that rule of thirds so never sure about positioning...& my OCD hates things that aren't central

Sunflower was shot at f8 on 1/100 ISO250 with flash...do you mean to shoot it at say f14 & reduce shutter speed accordingley ? I'm quite happy going out n about with the monopod but not comfortable with the tripod yet which I guess I'd need to use to go much slower on shutter speed ?

nice start Lynn. Nice to see you challenging yourself at every opportunity

cheers lc:thumbs:

Day 3...most of the time my shots are probably gonna be done on 1 day then posted over the week.

Playing around with the tamron in the house...his neck has a curve so not possible to get a bang straight view....no idea what the light line is behind him & think It may need a slight tilt to the left ? Having looked again it's the line on the wall thats not straight..not a lot I can do about that

Out at Potteric Carr yesterday afternoon & spent an age watching this little chap/chapess trying to get a decent view of the face....didn't mind that I was moving the flower around as far to intent of feeding.....this was the best I got....

I like the little monster, cool DoF, well shot.

Love the bee...great detail in its fur.....

I like the spider shot best. It just seems to strange taking bee photos in october, not that I am complaining about the fab weather.

Cheers...took quite a few shots but I'm most pleased with this one

I did think it odd to see the Bee so late in the year but it was most accomodating & let me move the plant around...having a very long feed !

You've nailed the focus on both those shots, well done. Loving the October Bee!

Thanks Dave.....this challenge is just what I need to get to grips with this lens...struggle a lot of the time with focus but practice should improve me

loving that bee, lynne... great detail... rather..cuddly... in a sadistic sort of way..

Where did you find a bee in October?

gosh you have done well with the spider and bee (esp with the bee in oct) liing your other stuff too

Love that bee. Well done :)

Time for a little catch up from me.

Still not sure if I like this ? & I think there are some slightly blown light bits ?

Wow love the waterdrop!

And I've got one of those quattro signs as well but not yet photographed...

..you've no idea how many shots it took to get that one....

you're not supposed to tell us that! You should have just said.. 'i saw the drop was about to fall from the tap so i grabbed the camera and shot from the hip... pffft.. not a bad result in the end' :D

It's brilliant regardless

Good varied set of shots.... I really want to have a go at water drops....

The water droplet has a great glassy effect.

Like the water drop, and the quattro, it makes a good abstract. Keep em coming Lynne.

Ta muchly ...the quattro sign was attached to the car.....spent an hour in the showroom at the weekend....gave the customers a giggle if nothing else

Don't do it....far to addictive...3 hours gone in the blink of an eye

Cheers...quite pleased with it

Thanks for commenting..imagination running low & the dark nights not helping:'(

lynne...there's something BOLD about that first yellow... that makes it stand out for me.. rich yellow colour..

..second.. i'm not sure..the green of the closed buds seems to detract... but it could be the cooking sherry...

Bit of a catch up from me with a mixed bunch of shots

9. Bit of an abstract but I like the detail & texture

10. The only shroom I found at Potteric due to the exceedingley dry weather

DSC_9659 by llj666, on Flickr

11. Not quite sure why I like this...but I do...reflections n all :p

DSC_0616 copy by llj666, on Flickr

12. Had a quick visit to the local country park & thought I'd see what I could do with the Tamron..

DSC_0712 by llj666, on Flickr

& these should bring me up to date :)

13. Still at the country park I though I'd have a go at birds in flight...not really what the lens was intended for but pleasantly surprised at the results .

15...& finally...just messing...had the urge to take an eye shot...no idea how to get the focus right & never thought about reflections :bonk: Still...quite pleased for a 1st attempt

You've got some awesome photos there lynne ..you take great wildlife shots. That's a scary eye... Shame you couldn't have got the lens in place of the pupil...

Hi Lynne,

I don't think I have managed to comment on yours yet. There is a really good selection of subject matter. I love the water droplet and the reflections in number 11.

Well done for your birds in flight. I have never mastered these.

Jenny

Love the eye :)
and the abstract grass thing (might benefit from a really tight crop)

cracking shots... love the eye....love the red in that shroom... lovely....
