had a quick look through tutorials and cannot work out how...

basically as a joke for a guy at work I want to add a calippo ice lolly (long story, but he never buys them) whereas we do.....

so pic of him from facebook, on a beach and i want to put a calippo in his hand, but need parts of it to disappear as in his grip.... cannot work out for the life of me how to.

Trial CS6 if it makes any difference

Layer it over the top and then erase where his fingers are ;)

You need to open both images. have them side by side at 1st for ease of use. (drag the windows smaller so they fit in your workspace and use 'ctrl -' to shrink the images down (this just makes things easier while learning)

Now click on the shot with the Calippo and using the marquee tool, drag a shape around the lolly go to (top menus) Edit> copy then click on the photo of your mate and got to Edit>Paste. Now you should see the lolly on the photo (it all depends on what the two shots resolution and size was before to determine how much editing the lolly needs)

No you probably need to resize the lolly but if you look to the layers panel on the right you will see that the lolly layer is above the mates photo layer. Now make sure you have the lolly layer selected and then got to (top menus again) Edit>transform>scale now you should have toggle box around the lolly, move the sides/corners until the lolly looks the correct size and hit enter. Next select the move tool and drag the lolly to the hand of your mate.

Now all you need to do is grab the erase tool and start to erase the lolly so the the fingers of your mates hand start to appear underneath and therefore creating the illusion that the lolly was always there.

It would be better to use masks but that is a little more advanced (although not difficult) so just use the eraser slowly and a bit at a time so any mistakes can be reset.
