black & white help please

I have been trying to copy a particular style of black and white but can't quite get it right. The best I can describe it is the GQ style images which make the people have a more statue look. It's hard to describe and since I'm using a phone can't upload an example. I've tried silver fx pro but its still not right. Anyone with the book nude photography by pascal baetens can see what.I mean.on page 148.
If this made any sense to someone and know the look I'm going for I'd appreciate any helpyou can give, thanks.

I've not got the pascal book and don't get gq, done a quick search but can't work out what images you mean. Even on your phone you can post links, just copy paste link from your browser into the text field
