Hi,

I was wondering what others had used to paint their Black studios floors? I am currently in the process of signing up to a property and one of the studios will be a completely black room (walls floor and ceiling)

I'm happy to re-touch as I would an infinity cove and it doesn't need to be particularly hard wearing as it will just be models and light stands (and togs!) but no cars, bikes etc.

The main thing I am looking for is a Matt finish as, from what I can see anyhow, most garage floor coatings are gloss or semi gloss.

Concrete flooring by the way and As cheap as you like (as I said, no probs with re-touching!)

Wonders if he's posted this in the right section?....:-)

Does it have to be matt black? Garage floor paint doesn't keep its shine for all that long - at least not in my studio

Hi Garry,

Thanks for your reply. I guess not but I can't find any semi gloss or Matt in black. Lots of grey or red but no black!!

Probably just me being rubbish....

I just use black masonry paint. Nice matt finish, reasonably tough wearing and stands up to cleaning (mopping) quite well!

Excellent. Was going to give this a go anyhow so hearing you suggest it really helps.

Thanks a lot Si :-)

P.s - any particular one that you use?

The cheapest!

Currently using some Focus stuff that was being sold cheap in B&M home stores after focus went in to liquidation.

It's also up one of my walls as my black background!

For the floor I just painted it on top of the grey floor paint that was already on the concrete floor. Stuck to it fine and had no problems with it lifting or scratching off.

Any marks that don't scrub off get retouched. It blends in perfectly with no effort and dries enough to walk on in about 30 minutes.
