Hi everyone.

I recentlly bought a dslr camera with a couple of lenses. When I take pictures with one of the lenses the results end up with a couple of black spots on the photographs in the same place every time. Thete are no black spots present with the other lenses.

Ive dusted the front and back of the lens as I assumed it might be something on the lens but the spots still appear.

What else can I do to sort it?

Thanks

Mark

Which camera lens combination are you using? Also what F number are you using?

when you say not on other lens.. are these other lens simmilar and used shooting at same thing and same f number..

step one.. put any lens on... set to around f22 and shoot at plain blue sky.... your may be shocked at how many spots you see...

then see if its same with different lens

I say step 1 so you can either blame or dispell the camera

Sensor dust for sure - it's normal and inevitable - you'll need to clean it a couple of times a year as rule.

+1 for sensor dust, does it look like this?

Paranormal experts claim its negative energy.........

You can either knock it out in photoshop, use the dust mapping function in camera if yours has it or do a full sensor clean with sensor cleaning swabs. It's relatively easy to do but if you pull any of the oil across from the shutter mech or scratch the sensor you'll end up with a paperweight. You can take it in to most decent camera places who will do it for you for about £40.

Yup sensor dust... my sensor is manky.. really disgusting.. but as I only really shoot wide open or maybe f4 then I never see it :)

until you inadvertantly invert the colours Tony - then its quite worrying!
