EDIT: Found my system using weighted tension cables. Will be draping black material around the walls and ceiling using drop-in anchors, eye-bolts, shackles and tension wire to allow the material to be pulled back when not in use. My main question now is what material to use and where to get it. I'm thinking some kind of black muslin but am eager to get something that's light enough to keep the pressure reduced on the cables (it will be a lot of fabric) but 'strong' enough to absorb light/prevent it bouncing. Anyone have any suggestions?

Turning a recently restored large Victorian reception room into a home studio. Keen to retain as much of the room's elegance and features as possible without compromising it's primary function as a studio.

The dimensions are 5.6 x 4.1m with a ceiling height of 3.2m. The room is bay windowed at one end and painted in magnolia and white throughout.

I'm looking for some sort of track system for black material around the walls (or a section of the room at least) and trying to find a solution for the ceiling to make sure light can be as strictly controlled as possible.

Any thoughts, links, questions or ideas will be helpful. Thanks.

I guess the original post wasn't explained very well, or the question clear. Will get some images of the space up shortly and see if that prompts some ideas.

Curtains and blackout going up on windows Monday, at which point I'll need to think about how walls and ceiling. There must be some sort of rail/pulley system that will suit my needs, just don't know what it is yet or whether I need to design it myself.

Pictures will help explain...

Re: the track - use curtain rails or those stretchy net curtain cables

Thanks for the thoughts, but I've found my system and it involves weighted tension cables. I'll be draping black material around the walls and ceiling using drop-in anchors, eye-bolts and shackles. The material can be pulled back like curtains when not in use. Can't wait to get a pic up when it is finished.

If you visit a (good) haberdashery you'll find a material, or visit somewhere like Dunhelm Mill. These types of places specialise in variety of fabric weight and finish as much as type. My missus buys a lot from dunhelm and she gets all sorts of stuff, from heavy velvet to muslim. I'm sure you'll find what you need in the sizes that you require :)
