Yes
So we bought a dehumidifier from Amazon site on a Black Friday deal today I saw an advert for the same one on the makers website.
So is Black Friday just a gimmick or a rip of Britain deal?
Russ.

I think you can get a bargain but you do have to be careful. There are 'price history' websites and 'pricerunner', too.

Here's what Which? have to say. Dated November 6th..so current.

All sales are gimmicks. No harm in buying if you see something you need but especially online, there is no need for 'loss leaders'. Regulations say they only have to have sold at the high quoted price for a few days. If shopping on Amazon I check the 3 camels for price changes first.

As it always has been, "SALES" are a way to offload excess stock. End of line, overproduction etc.. If something you were planning to buy is reduced, great but a lot of unneeded jusnk gets bought because it was a bargain...

I recently bought a set of headphones from Currys for €190. On Amazon atm their black Friday 'deal' claims a drop from anything between €227-€287 to €190 ...

Do some research into anything you fancy during this 'sale'

[Edit: realised the set that was originally 287 is a limited edition, the difference? a slight different colour]

I don't usually go for these 'sales' really. Sometime I might save a few quid, but you never save as much as they make out you do!

Last year I bought some of those Trekology lightweight camping type chairs. They were advertised as something like from £60 to £30 to make it look like half price, the reality was that their 'standard' price was around the £40 mark..

Earlier this year, I bought a fantastic pair of 'Easy Comfort' Bose Headphones from Bose that were in a sale at about the time of a Black Friday deal or similar. I paid £180 for a £320 pair. When my wife saw the deal she got a pair, too and as it was such a good deal I posted about it in WCUT and,I'm sure it was Nod, who saw my post, needed a pair himself and got the deal and was very pleased . Why they were on offer was because they replaced that model. I read that the new model was quite a bit more and wasn't worth it so to get the bargain.

Are they the Quiet comfort SC? They're on 'sale' again for this BF, €204 down from €331! [that's the claim] Seems great, but again, Currys have the same set, not on sale for €199

It's the Sennheiser Momentum 4 I got, I was also considering the Bose

i am looking for a deal on a 5060Ti 16gb and its not looking good

I hate how black Friday in the UK has morphed into a Black month...I don't think you get as many special deals as the shops want you to think. It's just too much noise, like others have said to offload excess/old stock.

It was indeed me. Mrs Nod "borrowed" mine for a bit on a flight and ended up with her own pair at the same price. As you say, end of line, clearing shelves for the new model.

"Black Friday" has been more about what I haven't brought. I have decided not to renew my photoshop subscription, as it is just getting to much for how much I use it.
So I have invested in ON1 Photo Raw. So far I quite like it

The company I order my vape stuff from had a good promo on. My order would have normally genuinely cost £70 but came in at £28.

Other than that have seen absolutely nothing that was any sort of genuine deal.

When at the airport recently I had a wee look at headphones, whilst trying a couple of sets the assistant asked if I had seen them cheaper elsewhere as she “had some leeway”, didn’t bother in the end but it was a decent offer, I mentioned Black Friday deals and she just scoffed.

I suspect they can sell those all day long at full price.

I bought the usual annual adobe photography plan on discount.

me to but i can hope for maybe £30 off it all helps

I did do a round of upgrade and replacement this year: POCO F7 £216, vacuum cleaner £54 from £117, kindle £136 from £159 (iirc), On1 software £46 from about £65 usual 'offer' price. But I only buy the stuff that's useful - no knee-jerk bargains.

To be honest there wasn’t anything we actually need certainly gadget wise
For example my M1 MacBook copes perfectly fine for any photo editing I do and recently started 4K video editing and its fine with that too

Well I've been tracking a new ebike for a few months and the price was dropped in the build up to BF and yesterday it was dropped further so I went for it.

Can't beat Sennheiser for headphones.

Can't beat Sennheiser for headphones.

Bought my wife some Sennhieser headphones a few years ago. Nice sound but crazy tight - we both have fairly small heads, but these go uncomfy within 30min. Recently picked up a pair of Philips SPH9500 that are really comfy and sound good. They aren't super high spec, but decent enough, and they also come with fabric on all surfaces that touch skin rather then the protein-PU-leather that flakes and peels after a couple of years.

Worthwhile offers are few & far between - only thing I've bought this Black Friday: an additional year of OS Digital maps (£17.49 instead of £34.99 - subscriptions stack)

I would say I have an average sized head [if there's such a thing?] And find at least the Momentum 4 very comfy, they are the first set of Sennheiser I've had though so cannot compare to their other models. I found my old Anker Soundcore Q45 'tighter' and more fatiguing to wear over long periods. My partner has a set of Sony Ult-Wear and I find those also tighter. One thing with the M4 though, you can swap out the ear cups and head band cushion to offer more options.

My first time trying Sennheiser tbh, and so far very good! They beat the Soundcore Q35/45 [I would consider both very good, probably the best ANC I've experienced] and the Sony Ult-wear [the Sony's are a little more bass heavy if you need it, but the overall sound is crispier on the Senn's]

There's some good deals on the Ult-wear atm if anyone is looking for a new headset, and really likes a bass heavy sound

What I like about Sony, Soundcore and now Sennheiser is they all have very solid , customisable apps. You can EQ to your personal taste, I love the bass boost option on the Momentum 4, sometimes I need it, other times prefer a cleaner, yet still warm, bassy sound, and it's simple a click of a button [on the app]

The Ult wear have a physical bass boost button on the set with 5 levels lol, they can really rumble if you want

Yes, I'm sure they are SC. Definitely 'Quiet Comfort'. I'm on holiday at the moment, the booklet re model is at home. Nod bought the same ones at the same time..as you see in my post. Maybe he'll see your query and respond . Any Google I do here..Madeira..is in Euros. Sennheiser are top quality, too.

There's a reason why many in the music industry use sennheiser.

I have always liked good speakers, always had a decent enough 'Hi-Fi' as a teen. I remember though back then [the 90's] Sennheiser gear was pretty expensive, so I would go more for Panasonic, Pioneer, Sony etc ... course nowadays, in the bluetooth era, and with much more competition, we can buy those once 'fancier' brands :) I remember Bose too were on the pricier side

Ummmmm...... I just bought some hoodies & a few stickers from a YouTube/car building channel - genuine 20% BF deal though & an extra 10% for using a discount code! Free postage over £50 & multiple entries into a custom VW van giveaway :)

I bought a microwave I'd been watching for a while, the price was lower but not massively and I really needed it so, happy chap. Except the controls are stupidly complicated at first.

Sounds a bit like the one I bought a few month back - A Sharp MW, was on sale in Tesco - 3 button press just to get it to timer, another to start. Once you get used to it though it's like 'Beep, beep, beep, beep, done, takes seconds, bit of muscle memory lol

Last BF I did get a Ninja double XL Air fryer, it was around €50 off which wasn't too bad

The best sales we have been to, are the Christmas Eve last minute sale in John Lewis food hall and the New Year sales at Harrods and Selfridges, real bargains to be had.

Been watching a lens on the e.bay shop of a trusted camera dealer I’ve used before and dithering over the price .. last night I noticed there was a Black Friday 20% off code so went for it a quiet substantial saving .. well pleased

I think we paid £180-185.?

I forgot to mention the 'noise cancellation'..the large..ish, oblong button the bottom of the left ear pad. It was great on the plane. You'll know how noisy the plane is...it all but cut it out altogether...amazing. Plunged me into almost silence.lol. I use them with my iTunes playlists which I compiled. Helps pass the time.

umming and arring about these, been on my list for a while but only available imported but now Hifiman have a UK distributor so pricing is excellent.

I don't think I have ever used an open back headset! They are pricey as F
