I'm wondering if black friday deals will be better this year due to covid-19 and the loss of sales since March.
I've just bagged my best deal ever, Very had the Samsung S20 5G listed for £610 with £280 off the full price.
With a 20% discount code from Very and selling my existing phone total cost to me will be around £315.
Now, if I can score a Tamron 150-600 G2 for around £600 I'll be a very happy but I just can't see it happening,

In the past few years I've only bought things that I need, regardless of discount. What I do is say I started running back in September with couch to 5k app. I promised myself i am still running I can treat myself to a new pair of trainers, a proper running trainers. It just happen to time with Black Friday. Up until this week I have finished the app and still running and saw a pair for half price so I bought it. Plus trainers wear out.

I am not going to buy a new fridge just because it's cheap, nor a new phone etc. It might seem like a good deal but any deal with my bank balance going down is still a negative value, unless I need it.

I do however buy Adobe LR/PS sub every Black Friday, £90 instead of £10 a month (£120), as i need it so saves money in the long run.

I have sold my Xbox one for £150 with some games so will pick up a new one when there are games to play on it.
 
Seen many stories about Black Friday deals that aren’t really a bargain, only if I needed something and having done my homework to ensure it really was worth it would I buy, seems like another way to fool the punter into opening his wallet.

It's already been £89 for the 12 month subscription.
 
Waaaay back when retailers needed to entice people into a physical shop there used to be a few good deals. Now, buy it if you need it and if the price is right.

I think Amazon Fire tablets for kids may have had a genuine discount. I'm always a little cynical of the "before" prices, I'm sure I remember that there's a website which can check this though?

I just buy stuff when I want it or need it. If it coincides with Black Friday, what want is never included in the sale.
I have been contemplating buying a cordless car polisher. There aren't that many makes unlike 240v polishes so I thought I would have a look to see if any were in the sales and found nothing, well not unless I want to spend a couple of hundred quid on something that will hardly ever get used.

What kind were you looking at? I mind having one which was hopeless, the kind where you pull the polishing cloth over it. I suspect you are looking at the proper DA ones though, but they are certainly a hell of a price! I bought a corded one from Argos which turned out to be pretty good for very light correction and polishing. (link) but as you say I've used it twice in as many years, so glad I didn't get a more professional one. I'll probably get a rotary next as I prefer the handling of it and the DA takes too long.

Not really sure what I am looking to get really, too many cheap and cheerful looking ones to be honest. I am surprised more of the corded manufacturers don't make them, I would have thought they would be easier to use rather than having a cable to contend with.
I keep looking at polishes and then I look at the work of a detailer, that I follow on Facebook and know I could never achieve a finish like he gets and regrettably my car needs some serious work in places.

I watched a ton of YouTube videos on it and also watched a mate who is an ex-bodyshop owner do a number of vehicles with his rotary before I delved into it. The speed he could do a car in with it was insane! You can't really go wrong with a DA, near impossible to cause damage even when I used hex foam pads and a very heavy cut compound. But that in itself poses a problem and if there's any serious marks it takes many, many slow passes and even then you will probably end up just wet sanding and buffing up with the DA.

A Forced Drive DA is probably the best of both worlds and they've come down in price recently but I'm still going for a rotary. If it's one where you can control the rpm and get it low then it's safe enough to start on. I would recommend no larger than a 5" pad but that might just be a personal thing. I found 6" just didn't have the same control and subsequently poor cutting etc.

Let us know what you get and how you get on, it's something I'm very interested in and like to hear about - even better see some results!

A couple of blokes at work have had their cars done by him.
He usually does a couple of cars a week on a full detail and ceramic coating and they will take him all week and I think he must put in 10hr days at least.

I've been tempted to get a proper ceramic coating done. I've used the Meguiars ceramic spray wax of which I was very skeptical of, but it actually turned out to work and I still get consistent beading after months of washes so it must still be on there working away. I found out the hard way that the initial application method is essential though.

I bought a cheap ceramic coating off ebay, only about £10, tiny little bottle and an applicator in a nice sturdy little box. Went on quite easy, probably only lasted around 3-4 months, but the beading was quite impressive.
The bloke in my link uses a self healing ceramic coating by Feynlab. I don't think it is on sale to the general public but only available to accredited detailers.
After it is applied he let's it bake on with lamps in his workshop.
There maybe a demonstration video on his site where he uses a wire brush on the paintwork. The ceramic coating scratches, but protects the paint underneath. He then applied heat, from anything like a hair drier, heat gun, hot water, even leave it in direct sunlight on a hot day, the coating heals itself and the scratches disappear.

I just bought a pair of Nike Air Max for £35. My last pair of Air Max was £75 and the pair before that was around £90-110 so at £35 it's a good deal.
 
I just bought some TIBO 3.1s off Amazon as they were at there lowest I had a price alert they went under £95.
Had a pair of the 3s for a few years and they are very good.
 
I've just bagged a deal on a Samsung 46mm smart watch.
Samsung and others dropped the price from £299 to £179.00 and upon checking the history of pricing it turns out that is the cheapest it's been.
With a trade in of my S2 smarth watch, total cost to me is £129.00.

Some deals but I don't think Black Friday (are we really allowed to still call it that, surely someone is upset over it! :rolleyes:) - I put off buying some bits in case it got cheaper.

I do use it (or the other Amazon deal days/weeks) for Adobe as it is cheaper, but I often know what I am after for a while and have an idea on price, so don't buy just because of BF. I do usually by memory cards on BF as they tend to be cheaper, but not much else.
 
I thought I did OK (OK, but not incredible) on ebuyer until I realised I wouldn't see a thing until at least after Christmas and almost certainly no promised cashback. All cancelled and starting all over on boxing day sales.
And either visa (hsbc) or sage pay f***up means I couldn't order the mac mini. HSBC is claiming nothing to do with them at all; the card is fine and working elsewhere. That's a pretty black friday for PC shopping, but let's say maybe it is for the better.

That leaves me with new Xiaomi phone that I didn't really need and £15OFF front brake discs which I probably really need. Time to source the new pads now. It looks like a very black friday at the garage is fast approaching.
 
Annoyingly I ordered my son an xbox controller a couple of weeks ago thinking they wont be discounted so soon after coming out! £10 cheaper (but now out of stock!)
