Hi guys, can you please let me know the easiest way of adding black borders to layers.

I have the below image which consists of a white background with 4 images on seperate layers. I'm looking to add small black borders to each of them to make each of them stand out, really struggling to find a simple tutorial anywhere online.

Thanks in advance,

Cheers, Dan

Click on the layer you want to add the border to. Choose the fx option (I have it as an icon below the layers palate). Then choose "stroke". Choose the colour and size, and choose "inside" for it's position. It will draw a thin stroke line around the layer. repeat for the others.

One thing, doing it like that, suppose you want a 2 pixel stroke. Where two images meet there will be 4 pixels (2 borders together), but only a 2-pixel around the outer edges of the full image. You might want to merge all the layers at the end, and add a final stroke around the whole thing to balance it out.

BTW...the layers must not be locked or background layers.

Hope that helps.

Cheers Craig, its simple stuff like this I should know but first time I've had to use it.

Thanks again.

No worries...takes time...and it is simple but if you don't know it's there, you can't do it, eh?
