I have a white muslin and have the obvious crease problems, but if you are taking low key shots I can't see this being a problem except for around feet etc or when the model is lying down. Muslin is better for storage and I am limited for space. So which is best?

The only thing that beats muslin for black background shots is genine black velvet, paper doesn't even come close, it's too reflective.

BTW, there's no real relationship between "low key" and black background.

Obviously, what Garry said, as an aside, look up lighting for a black background, you can do it with a white background, I've done it at home with both grey and cream coloured curtains.

Thanks. Garry's post reminded me I have actually done it before without a background so I started looking into it. Thanks to you both, you've just saved me money :)
