Black and White processing - Black sky tip plz

Anybody got a step by step guide in how to have a black sky in black and white day photo's using adobe photoshop elements 6+. I always get grey sky , but i've seen to many good black and white photo's with black skies

Don't know about Photoshop but with black and white film, a red filter will turn a blue sky nearly black. Looks good with white fluffy clouds.

It depends what 'colour' the sky is before you do the mono conversion.

Basically to get a dark sky you really want some of the sky blue. Then when you do the mono conversion remove some of the blue channel in the PSE6 B&W convertor tool.

Similar methods apply with Lightroom.

These methods give a similar effect to a red filter when shooting B&W film.
