Black and White Help

Ive been looking at Sylvia Blums work and really like the look she gives to some of her B&W. Does anyone know how to achieve this look? any guides or advice is very welcome. They kinda look like GQ stuff to me. Thanks

My guess is this photographer is using Nik Silver Efex Pro plugin for Photoshop.
