As much as your lens looks like a dog with one of those collars on .
Digital cameras don't need uv filters, lens hood will protect your front element unless you're in a war zone, many threads regarding this issue, have a quick search and don't worry too much
I just want to know where I find the information as to what size filter would fit my lenses
As much as your lens looks like a dog with one of those collars on I'd say get a 77mm with a set of step up rings.
As for the actual filter, I can't imagine you'd go far wrong with a Hoya Pro1.

I used to have filters on all my lenses up until recently, when I did a side by side comparison of the image quality with and without the filter and I was amazed at the loss of quality when the filter was on.
I find that a lens hood provides more than enough protection for almost all shooting situations.
