Hi folks,

I read about this last year but was unable to go. Is it a good event?

Thanks

Are you talking about the one that's held at Rutland Water? If so, I believe it's a very good event, I keep meaning to go to it but life and work keep getting in the way. Apparently if's a good place to go if you want to compare and test binoculars and spotting scopes, plus try different makes of outdoor clothing for size and fit. Perhaps that's one of the reasons I've not been... the real and present danger of bank account drain! ;)

Ah, so not much in the way of photo workshops or talks?

There are plenty of talks but very few are photo specific. Canon usually have a stand with some talks (It’s quite small and intimate). Most other talks are related to trips companies are running. There are usually some well known speakers in one of the main tents. Simon King is usually there, last year Steve Backshaw, Bill Oddey were there. Chris Packham is usually somewhere too.

Bird photographer of the year is also announced in one of the tents too. There are evening talks too that you can pay extra to attend.

It’s set in egleton nature reserve at Rutland Water so you have access to the reserve too. There is a website for it, you can see the size of it and what’s on.

Went once a few years ago. Had a play with the newly released 1DX with 600mm f/4 II. Long way out of my budget range, but nice to have a close up experience. Also tried binoculars and spotting scopes from pretty much everybody. Enjoyed it a lot. Might go again this year.
