Just watching sky news it's been announced that Osama Bin Laden has been killed and his body is in US custody.

A martyr's influence can last for thousands of years...

people overeacting that somehow his death will cause more terrorism. it wont, more terrorism is inevitable, it would continue regardless of his death. one less terrorist is never a bad thing.

Don't get me wrong i am glad he is dead but this is not going to change anything.

Joe i'm not over reacting i'm just not jumping up and down with joy, many more are waiting to take his place

no overreacting here, just thinking about it, not only will it make him a martyr for the extremists but it adds a lot more fuel to the fire.

Code:
more terrorism is inevitable

terrorism is inevitable, the death of Bin Laden will cause more terrorism than there would have been anyway.

no it wont. thats classic overeacting, did killing saddam make the world any more dangerous or safe? no. its just another figurehead dead, its a good thing. wont make a difference in the long run, but still something to celebrate.

I'm glad he's dead.

Even if it removes a small amount of direction from the organisation he was head of it is a good thing. It will do nothing to reduce the amount of terrorism but it may just mean there will not be any really big strikes for a while.

I'm finding the sea burial very peculiar and makes me wander that this story will be shrouded in some mystery and many conspiracy theories for a long time

It's a shame that he can't stant trial for the things that he has instructed to be carried out . I'm sure that all the families that his action have destroyed would have wanted to see him brought to justice for his crimes .

I think there will be a few revenge attacks over the next couple of weeks but after that will die down. Glad he's dead though :)

Feel the same, there will have to be some recompense from people within Al Qaeda at some point.

The only thing that puzzles me is if you claim to have killed the worlds most wanted man and got his body why would you dump it at sea, roll on the conspiracy theories..

I'm finding the sea burial very peculiar

Bury or cremate him anywhere and a millions nutters will then call it a shrine and feel the need to 'pay homage'......

True, but its a little strange to just chuck him into the sea like that, pretty much within a few hours of the affair. Also I think that such an immediate 'burial' is not a fair judicial process. How would they know they even got the right person? Its all a little too peculiar.

I'm not so sure that him being dead is a good thing. After all, with him still alive, that created lots of jobs trying to find him. Oh well... I suppose there will be a new guy to find shortly.

Speaking of finding...

:D

I find his death hard to celebrate. If fact I find it quite sad that others take delight in another human beings death.:|

Apperently they have taken a number of DNA samples for return to the USA. The burial at sea was to make sure there was no single point on earth that people could go to worship.

It's always sad when a life is taken, but his God if he has one will surely judge him.

As for changing anything, Is the world any better off for the loss of Saddam, nope. Our brave boys and girls are still out defending a country thats still in turmoil.

Will it reduce terrorism in the world, I doubt it. Nutters are always nutters, they will be like a chicken with it's head cut off for a while but they will continue in their beliefs.

ok what i am trying to say is i am not going to jump with joy yes i am glad he is dead, but there are many others that will stand up and take his place as the "experts" on daybreak were saying this morning.

I just found Lord Lucan....but dont worry I have killed him, removed his body and burnt it well away from anyone (just in case).

Nah - they got his location from his PS3 details. The CIA hacked Sony.

Apparently living in a $1m mansion less than a mile from the main Pakastani military base.

All the conspiracy theory loons are already tweeting. Ignorance breeds saddoes :(

Glad he's been taken out of the equation. Will it make a difference? Very little in the short and probably little in the medium term. But it could make a huge difference long term. There may well be intelligence gained in the last few months that can now be acted upon to take out other high-ranking AQ operatives. It's certainly the start of a new chapter.

On reflection I think Bin Laden may have regretted giving out his real address on Playstation Network :-)

If not taking the American Military/Government at their word makes me a sad then so be it.
