I'm looking to purchase a battery grip but baulking a little bit at the Canon price compared to that of some aftermarket versions. I've found a few cheaper versions with really good reviews but wanted to be assured I'm get something suitable and I may well end up with the Canon version.

To highlight my main concern, e.g. with one particular version by Neewer you have to choose between using the camera shutter button or the grip button and physically turn the grip on or off to switch between the two. With my old BG-E3 on my 350, I could freely use both whenever I wanted and this is what I want from a new grip.

So I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences with any particular aftermarket versions.

Thanks guys.

I've managed to get some feedback from a few aftermarket grip users and it would appear that the reviewer for that particular grip was either talking bunkum or had a faulty item. It seems that the Neewer (and MeiKe) grips do indeed allow use of both shutter buttons without having to turn the grip power on or off to switch between the two.
