I shoot in RAW and JPEG and use the JPEG as I like a preview of the shots but prefer the editing of the RAW files in Photoshop CS5.

My question is, once I have edited the RAW, opened it in photoshop and done any editing I then need to save it as a JPEG.

What is the best way to do this?

I have always clicked FILE > Save For Web & Devices

but I get a warning saying this is designed for smaller files and I may experience slow performance etc.

I usually keep doing it and although it is a bit delayed it allows me to save a full size copy and then do it again for a resized smaller jpeg that I use for online purposes.

Is this the best way for me to save as a JPEG?

Or should I be using another method?

Now I have changed to the Sony A77 the resolution is much higher (than my A200 files) and it is taking even longer.

hope that makes sense,

thanks for the help,

Sammy

go to "save as" and select jpeg - it gives you plenty of options - colour space, quality etc

It means you have an edited full sized/resolution image should you later wish to print it or do anything else, with saving for web you are limited as to what you can later do. If you have lots of layers you can also "save as" psd or tiff to retain the layers for future use then also save for web if you want a smaller file.

I think the only time I have used save for web is when I am doing animated gif's :)
