Yes
Starting to get fed up of converting RAW into DNG just so that I can edit using Photoshop Elements

Currently on a 7 day trial for Light Room 6 (Stand alone version) and since applying the update 6.14 it reads and edits my RAW files perfect.
I also love the much simpler, workflow with LR.

I would like to purchase the software but can't find it for less than £100, and worried about license issues if I purchase second hand from eBay (Not sure what information the seller will see if I re-register the product)

As I recall when I bought a pre registratered v5.5 a good while back.....the seller had to advise Adobe he was de-registering it.

That produced an Adobe document that came with the CD etc., I think there was a special code I had to enter when I registered online.

AFAIK, simply put the seller should "prove" that he has relinquished ownership before money changes hands.

You have to watch out for outright pirated software too, which is especially likely if it's suspiciously cheap. Note also that if you buy any camera in future that was released after the end of last year (when updates were discontinued), you'll have to go back to the DNG route - LR6 is on borrowed time, and will probably soon go the same way as CS6.

Thankyou for the replies
Ideally I’d like to buy a brand new copy as cheap as possible. I’m not sure if they have frequent sales or discounts?

With regards to longevity of LR6 I’ve only hadn’t my camera a few months and kept my last one for about 8 years so hoping that this software will last me 8 years at least

I upgraded from LR3 to LR6, not sure if that is still an option, if so might be cheaper to get an older version and do it that way.

Alternatively get a newer version of PSE so that your RAW files can be read with the built in version of ACR.

I don't think you'll see sales or discounts from Adobe themselves - they are trying to 'encourage' everyone to move to the Creative Cloud rental scheme instead. It hasn't gone much below £100 on Amazon in the last couple of years; don't know about other resellers.

I don't think I would count on your computer lasting 8 years nor would I count on whatever the operating system will be supporting legacy software.

In 8 years we will probably be editing our images in the Matrix via the iPhone XV's neural interface. But on the other hand, my 16 year old copy of Photoshop 7 still runs under the latest version of Windows 10 installed on my 6 year old PC.
