I'm in the process of selling a camera and lenses + accessories in the classified and was wondering on the best way to pack? I'm thinking of bubble wrap for the camera and lenses and putting them along with the accessories in a box stuffed with newspaper or those polystyrene things (where can i get them?). I've never sent something so large before so want to be sure i'm packing it up perfectly!

The golden rule for sending anything through our wonderful postal service:

You can NEVER have too much bubble wrap!

Yep large bubblewrap for the camera and lens and preferably polystyrene chips or shredded newspaper in a large box sufficient to ensure the edges of the equipment don't get knocked. If you've got a Staples in your area they may be able to help with packaging.
Also note that it's good to make sure that any equipment is protected from the packaging by a plastic bag for example - electronic components do not like polystyrene dust!

Bubble wrap, well fitting boxes (that's why people like having the original box...) and more bubble wrap. Maybe some foam chips etc in a slightly bigger box. Tape up loosely and shake gently - if you can feel the contents moving around, stuff the box a bit more until the contents seem to be held tightly. Tape up thoroughly (most people will cut the tape off, so it's hard to use too much). (Oh, before you tape it up, lob in a sheet of paper with your name and address just in case). Address clearly and don't forget to add your address marked clearly as sender or from on the back/bottom. Dispatch.

and WATCH where the 'intelligent' Post Office worker sticks the 'large' printout postal 'stamp'

over the return address in my case once, and the mis-directed packet ended up in Ireland for a week till tracked by me..!

That's why I suggested writing the return addy on the other side - makes it harder for slackjaws to screw up.

If using Royal Mail, once packed ask yourself 'would I be happy to throw this down a flight of stairs at a silverback gorilla?' if the answer is no then you probably need more packing!
