Yes
I really need to get to grips with PS. I have had a play but could not get into it at all. I am normally ok at trial and error - am decent at LR, but when I have done anything with with PS I just hit a wall!!! Thought about PS for dummies type thing, unless there are any other recommendations.

youtube
just follow what someone does, like say layers and masks
you'll soon pick it up
or buy the scott kelby book
its quite step by step method

I suppose it depends on what your preferred learning style is.

Personally I used PS for Dummies to get to grips with the basic commands and then searched out online tutorials to learn more advanced techniques for specific things.
(I gave my "for Dummies" book away to somebody at work otherwise you'd have been welcome to it to see if it helped)

I could never get to grips with the YouTube / video type tutorials and far preferred to search out the step by step written instructions with screen shots.
Same goes for courses. I know a lot of people who have done a face to face PS course and raved about it, but I prefer to dip in and out as I choose and learn at my own pace.

Simon,

I am in exactly the same boat as you are mate! :help:

I am pretty au fait with PSE10 but Photoshop CS6 extended is very detailed.

I have used Adobe TV a fair bit and also purchased the Adobe Photoshop CS6 Learn by Video product by Kelly McCathran.

The latter is excellent, with very good video AND practice package included. I think it cost me around £35 from Amazon and I can thoroughly recommend it.

Hope this helps.

I have a cs6 scot kelby book, its really good, but it does miss the non-photo parts of CS6.

I'm torn between "the bible" and "the missing maual" books as a desk top go to book.

macprovideo.com or lynda.com

If you search around, you can get a seven day trial subscription to the latter.
