Edit My Images
No
I recently shot some studio portraits in raw format set on flourecent white ballance. using the back of the camera as a guide I was happy with exposure and casts. when i open these raw images in cs3 there were very cyan casts when opened "as shot". When I open these images in cs3 within the processing section selecting "flash" the casts are better but a bit too warm.......I have spent hours re-editing these images again as I do not know how to bring the edited versions back into the processing section of cs3(now i realise I opened them up under the wrong setting) Are any of you guys experienced in converting raw images in cs3? Wish I shot them in Jpeg the stress this is causing me:help:

Any advice greatly appreciated:naughty:

You can do the whole lot in one go

Try,

File/Scripts/Image processor

I knew how to physically open them but once the raw files have been edited and converted to tiffs is there a way to bring them back into the processing section of cs3 again? I made a silly error in converting them "as shot" rather than "flash" in the cs3 processing section initially(this created strong colour casts that I had to remove in photoshop)

This is to save me re-editing the 10 images again:thinking:

Also did I do the correct thing setting my Canon 350d to flourescent white ballance using studio flash? I never had these problems shooting using high quality jpegs........??These casts have came from somewhere and I want to avoid this happening again:thinking::thinking::help::bang:

plEEEEAAAAAse help!!

Working in Raw is non destructive, in other words the RAW file is not touched. The final result you see as jpegor tiff is a conversion, not the original. You can go back and re edit the RAW images without any problem. The RAW file is as it came out of the camera, it hasn't changed. You can reset all the sliders to zero and start again

As to the correct setting for studio flash..Florescent is not the correct setting. Use either Daylight, or Flash

Hi Sarah

File/ Open As/ choose your Tiff image, change the extension to Camera Raw it will then open camera raw window HTH

I am a little lost as to what the difficulty is... you need to batch adjust the white balance?

1. Highlight all your files, and drag over cs3 icon to open em all at once.
2. Click 'Select All' from top left side of screen in ACR plugin.
3. Adjust WB for one til looks right.
4. Click 'Synchronise' from top left side of screen.
5. A list of options comes up... click the white balance option (top one i think)
6. Sit back and chill

Sorry? Forgive me.....ACR Plug in? Camera raw 4 opens every time I bring up a raw image??? I really want to chill lol

Imagine you are talking to a cs3 colour managment fool and you'll be spot on....

by 'screen in ACR plugin' I just mean the screen you get when you open a CR2 file in CS3.

68bls......thats a great short cut to set white ballance for all images.....Thank you...I'm feeling calmer by the second....it has worked great. Only I don't like the warm tone (which is the best I can find by selecting flash)....Do you think it has anything to do with me setting my camera white ballance on flourescent? My cameras screen looked fine when I was shooting them?

Just dave....I don't follow??...again.....Imagine the cs3 colour managment fool! lol

Try moving the slider to get a custom setting, rather than just selecting flash. And if it's still a little warm, try moving the slider underneath the WB which is green/magenta.

Glad to see you getting sorted :)

Actually, it's a good job you did shoot them in RAW, if you had shot them as JPEGs with the wrong white balance on the camera you'd be stuffed for doing any decent recovery.

There is another little trick to try. If you are having difficulty in working out the right colour temp in the Raw converter (ACR screen) then there is a little eyedropper for adjustting the white balance. Select is and click on an area of your image that is white and it will work out the colour temp for you. You can then apply that setting for a whole batch as described above.

68lbs....which slider to get a custom setting? you can only click on custom as far as i can see?..and its making no difference?

Just Dave...once I have chosen my tiff image how do i change the extention to camera raw?

choose your tiff then at the bottom where the file extension is click the little arrow and choose Camera Raw from the fly out menu list

I know you must be thinking dumb idiot! Am I in CS3 when I'm doing this? I can't see an arrow or fly out menu????

It's opened as a cs3 document now....how do I get it back into the processing section to change the cast??? You are such a star!!!!

Thanks Dave.....I'm in some desperate need of tutorials in CS3 raw conversion. Would any one recommend any tutorials? I've got a great step by step video for ps 7....It's VERY outdated but beautifully put together...shows you step by step what to do and one of the designers is commenting throughout. I never thought how much I could under estimate how difficult it is to get my raw images colour ballance accurate. I'm so stressed out! My client needs her portraits to send off for jobs. She has been singing my praises about my photography BUT she'll soon change her mind if her images take any longer!!!! I feel like I'm so alone on this....

Any advice would be greatly appreciated xx
