Yes
Basically as the title says ;). I have found a reasonably quiet wood that is supposed to be good for red squirrel sightings. I went on Saturday for about two hours in the middle of the day and didn't spot any. I'm trying not to be disappointed as I know realistically that they are quite shy creatures and sometimes these things are just down to luck. I wonder if I maybe chose the wrong time though as the woods did seem very quiet with wildlife apart from birds.

What time are squirrels (especially the red) most active?

I dont know about Reds but there are a few on here that photograph them quite a lot. If it is going to be a regular spot for you then think about baiting up with a wooden peanut feeder tied to a Tree, you may also want to have a small feeder for birds, a nice attractive old log in front of you scattered with nuts and/or sunflower seeds will attract any Nuthatches that are in the area. I admit some is down to luck but 99% of it imo is down to forward planning, wildlife can be so unpredictable.
PS Dont forget to put Peanuts in the feeder, as the Squirrels get upset if you dont

Unfortunately it is not a place I can visit very often, only when I make the trip to go visit my parents, which is why I want to maximise my opportunities. I think I may have to rely on patience and luck!
