Having been taking football photographs for a year now I'm getting to grips with the technical aspects (thanks to everyone for the advice). Now I have another question I hope you can help with.....

What is your preferred shooting position?

I've tried to assemble all of the positions I've used and taken on the earlier advice (not into the sun, getting low to the ground, etc). Personally I tend to sit between B and C or F and G with my 70-300mm but now I wonder if position A would be better...

Thanks for the help.

I think a lot depends on the type of shots you are after (and perhaps the game you are following). For goal action you would do best being behind the goal line so you have a chance of getting the scorer's face (so B-C/F-G). I like B and G for head on runs by wide players too.

But if the game is likely to be a midfield battle or those are the players you want shots of then A or even somewhere closer to the half way line would be appropriate.

D and E are a bit too close to the goal for me and I find I tend to get posts keepers' backsides in the way too often.

There is a thread on this subject over in the Talk Sports area of the forum ;)

Apologies for starting another thread. My search didn't find it :(

Off to other thread now!!
