Can anyone recommed a small (in size) portable hard drive. I like the look of the Western Digital but see someone suggested the Seagate -:help: I want 320GB and don't want to pay more than £70,

thanks,

Pip:)

There are a number around, like WD, seagate, Toshiba, Maxtor. Might be worth looking in somewhere like PC World to see what they have in and what you like the look of.

Also worth looking on their web site before you purchase one as they have web deals and you can collect in store, I have done this once or twice and the price has been very close to the cheapest I could find it on the web, but I could go and get it there and then - they also do a price match, but don't seem to price match to Amazon anymore :bang:

I'd recommend Seatgate, but only because I've had no end of trouble with WD. Seventy sound optimistic for 2.5"

faster prolonged transfer rate maybe..

ive got a seagate and no issues so far (6-8 months old?). personally id say avoid maxtor, theyre budget disks which in my experience fail quicker than most.

i have the wd 320 and had abolutely no probs in fact i have 3 or 4 all different sizes
never an issue
there was a sale on somewhere for a toshiba one in town i think it was w h smith
not sure what size or cost it was but it looked cheap

Thank you all. I don't like the look of the Maxtor. Does anyone know anything about the NESO - just seen it on amazon. Tesco are selling a few at the moment reduced from £67 to £44 - seagate one of them:shrug:.

I have had to replace my maxtor hard drive more than once now so wouldn/t recommend them, but they did replace free of charge even though the computer was over a year old.

Seems there is a 3 year warrantee with Maxtor but needs checking out, but thats no good if all your data is corrupted.

I really rate the Lacie rugged drives, they aren't the cheapest, but you did say you wanted the best.

I just have one of those WD Passport drives. Does what it should, all synced up to backup my 'photography folders' the minute it's plugged in, no complaints so far.

:D

thank you all so much, but being a girlie I went for the NESO - it has the size, look and price I want and I know someone who has one and seen it used,

many thanks for all your time:thumbs:
