Hi we're off to USA in 10 days been trying to get advice on a good point and shoot camera. We're not looking for anything bulky, something easy to carry around but takes very good point and shoot shots (simplified menu) is good for blocking out a shaky hand. Very hard to find genuine ratings, many sites seem to push a particular brand.

panasonic LX15 or Sony RX100M3 and of course the TZ100 mentioned above.
The former two are better in low light than TZ100 but TZ100 has a longer zoom range. In photography most things are a compromise, best pick one that works for you :)

Sony RX are a good option, a bit bigger than you would like is the Fuji X100, an absolute classic and DSLR IQ. If not, check out the Fuji compact range as they know how to make a good camera.

Many Thanks for your replies, they are very helpful we'll look at them all and we'll look to buy one of your recommendations

I’m off to the states and whilst taking my A7iii, I wanted something small for wife and son - bought a secondhand RX100IV for £300. Very impressed with it.

Ricoh GRII is a great little P&S love mine, or any of the Sony RX100s.
