I am going to be purchasing a 5dmk2 soon so want to know of any reputable business' which might be cheaper than jessops @ £1700.

also if anyone knows of a 70-200L is for sale as most stores are only stocking the new mk 2 and cant justify spending 2500 ish when i could possibly pick up a nice example of the mk1 for around 1000ish second hand?

any help would be great.

I've been looking at 5DII also recently, and came across this site:

Body only is £1599.99 inc VAT which is the cheapest I've seen it for online that isn't an obvious scam.

Oddly though, the site does not show up on camerapricebuster.

I've never used this company before.......but they seem genuine, and i've read posts online of people purchasing from there I think.
 
Ahhh.......thanks for pointing that out. Does look like its an import from Japan.

Is a camera bought from Japan completely void from warranty in UK then, even if I buy it personally from Japan and bring it back? Only reason I'm asking is because I'm going in 2 days..........and wondering if it's worth considering if the price is a lot cheaper there. If no warranty at all though, then it's pretty pointless.
 
I bought mine from Jessops in January, they price-matched the best price on camerapricebuster at the time, I forget who it was....

The pound has been taking an absolute hammering against the Yen recently so any discount is going to have been eroded a fair bit.

Yeh, tell me about it.........I went to change my currency, and within a week it dropped from £1 = 136 to £1 = 121 :| not impressed

Probably safer to get it from Jessops if they price match........
 
Mifsuds are usually pretty good and they were very helpful when I got my 24-70L from them.
 
Another vote for Kerso. I got mine off him for a good price - at least £100 cheaper than even the cheapest retailers. Apparently the Canon warranty is OK it as it comes with a UK invoice.
 
Got mine from my local LCE A couple of weeks back, for the price you mentined Jessops were selling them for. What clinched the deal was that they gave me a really good trade in on my 40D (actually more than they go for privately on here) and if anything goes wrong I'll just walk back to the shop.

Kerso was selling them for £100 cheaper and he gives excellent service.... But for this purchase I was more than happy to go to LCE with their trade in offer.
