best place for prints?

I've been using ALDI !! Yes AldiPrint......

34p for a 12" x 8" print on Kodak paper and I have been more than happy with them. I just did my brothers wedding album using them :)

5p for 6x4, 10p for 7x5

I've been getting DSCL A3 prints recently, for a portfolio.
I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Excellent quality, price and service!

jessops (not joking)

I'm sat in asda's car park waiting for one of the kids and just catching up on TP. I followed your link and it was looking alright till I got to the price of 12"x8" @ £2.00. That's 6 times the Aldi price. Their photobooks look alright especially with £10 off voucher with first order and 3 for 2. Will check price properly when I get home (they have mac software too!)

I paid £4 for an 8x12 last week at what used to be Klick. Was in a hurry and needed it that day....but still....ripped off tbh. Thankfully the person who it was for, and her family like it, so all worth it.

34p is really good though from Aldi AND the quality is VERY good.

I think I may give Aldi a try....actually for the price I suppose it's an idea oportuniy to compare aldi, DSCL, snapfish and possibly kodak and photobox...see which I prefer... think I may give that a go, if it's not too pricey.

My local jessops is pants for prints though, I took the last ones back.

jessops is more convinient for me to be honest, ive got to know the staff in there and im happy with the service they offer. prints always match my calibrated screen, unlike an online pro lab i tried.

not my link by the way the forum puts that in automatically :)

You get 100 6"x4" prints FREE with your first order too !!

ahhh well that settles it ;) I'll order 6x4s from each of the major ones and then decide which I prefer for the larger prints.

Seriously get at least one done at 12x8 because at 34p you will not be unhappy. I just did a wedding album with them so they are very good!!

another +1 for Aldi printing - I do my own prints up to A4, but i've used their poster print service for last couple of larger ones I've had done and they've been pretty much spot on. Only 12"x18" @ £1.45 or 20"x30" @ £7.79 available, but at that price you can print things with a white border to fill the print size, or even (cheeky but I've done it) put 2 panoramics on the one 20x30 background. :)

It's not cheeky, when I want 8"x8" shots which is quite often as I like them :) I have an action in photoshop that takes a square image and resizes it to fit 8x8 then increases the canvas size to 12x8 then copies then original 8x8 shrinks it to 4x4 and places it twice into the 4x8 stripe giving me 3 copies of the same image on the page ie 1 of 8x8 and 2 of 4x4 - no point in wasting that little bit of paper :)

well, I ordered from snapfish, from DSCL and from Aldi. Snapfish cause that's who I started using a long time ago, DSCL cause so many people recommend them and Aldi cause alot of people have stated they've been pleasantly surprised with their quality.

OK, so a week later...

Snapfish prints are still awaiting delivery
Aldi prints, to be honest, I think I'll use these for general prints in future. I would happily give a print as a gift from Aldi.
DSCL their lustre prints are beautiful. Their gloss prints are marginally better than Aldi's.

My verdict? Aldi are great for everyday stuff. DSCL, their lustre is beautiful, definately where I'll be getting my "special" prints from, in future. Their website is a bit of a pain in the ass though.

Used the Pearl from DSCL for a few shots of my daughter prom in 12x8s

I usually only print motorsport on gloss but the paper is much thicker and the colours are so rich, it's well worth trying £1.50ish I think for a 12x8

I printed these and more of my daughter and her best friend and they looked amazing.

I have had 30x20 printed with bonusprint a few times, I liked the quality and the price, but I didn't like the speed of delivery. I have been asked for a 30x20 to be ready for this Saturday so yesterday I took a chance with DSCL, I paid for first class but as I live in Northern Ireland I still expected a wait - for some reason delivery is slower to here!!

I have the print with me now...excellent quality, speedy delivery and worth the slightly extra cost

DSCL are very speedy. I need a print, preferably for tomorrow night and I've just placed an order - hopefully it'll be here in time! eek! Last time it came the next day, so tbh I'm hoping this one will too.

....still waiting for snapfish prints though....

Well how do you get it? I've ordered 100 6X4 prints and is still charging me £6.33 and see no way up to using paypal of entering £5 off code (from internet) or the free hundred prints?
Also the Aldi software is limited in that I can't seem to order 8X12 prints as well as my supposed free 100 prints all in one delivery with reduced postal charges as it doesn't show total items in basket i.e. free or otherwise 6X4 prints + 8X12 prints

I think they email you the code, which I think is FREE100. If you go through the procedure and then abort it half way through the upload process then wait for the code you can use it on your first order otherwise use it on your second. You can use it once for every email address you have ;)

erm well I just been stung for the full price, once you enter your card number in there is no next page for confirmation to change your mind or where you could enter a code, so beware. Also I sent an email to them about the wrong deduction from my card and all you get back is a standard auto response..well at the bottom it gives you a link for a personal reply back from them...and all that does is gives you the same auto response, so the only other option is to phone erm and probably be put on hold.

Update:- the box where you enter the code has just appeared...erm either it appears after your first order or after registering you have to wait a certain time.

Update2:-

Well the delivery is very quick, and the 6X4 prints are very good, so much better seeing film shots on glossy paper than on a computer screen....must try the 10X12 prints.

Hi there! I have found this thread really interesting as I have just started printing my digital photos although I have had a digital camera for about 6 years now. Has anyone else tried Lidl photo? I just got a batch back and was really disappointed with them. I spent hours trying to get my exposures even and the way I liked them but they came back all different. My hubby reckons they white-balance them and this has undone all my hard work :( I also tried Bonusprint which were fine but a little dark (that is probably due to my screen being too bright though).

Just signed up for Aldi, Thanks all seems so cheap will let you know how good or not they are
Barry

Received prints back, not to bad but not good enough for competition work
