As above everyone I have been asked for a print for a friend who is going to have it framed.
Just need your advice on what papers look best under glass?

I have had two done for myself one a pearl finish and the other gloss.
They do look ok but I feel I should have maybe went for a matt finish. This one is not for me I want to get it right.
I will be using Loxley.

Matt art papers look really good under glass in a frame. Which exact paper will depend on the image, is it colour/b&w? will the level of resolved detail work with a textured paper or not?

I don't use Loxley, but I've found the Museum 310 fine art paper (http://www.dscolourlabs.co.uk/fine_art_museum_310.cfm) used by DSCL works well with most subjects.

Alastair thank you I will go and look as I am happy to use DSCL
The image us a very vibrant sunset and would also be ordering a seascape that is a bit lighter although it too is a sunset image.

For landscapes I'd want something a little (but not overly) glossy. I really like Baryta type papers. They are thick, reproduce wide gamut of colours and have very nice smoothish but sensible finish. It was the gold standard back in the day until horrible C-types too over the world.

If we were talking portraits, some water color like art then my choice would be more textured, matte paper.

For landscapes that require warmth such as sunsets then a quality Baryta paper is hard to beat imo, I really like the fotospeed platinum baryta as well as the permajet FB gold silk.

Thank you everyone I have noted all advice given and will certainly look at all these papers.Might get a couple done using each of them and see what look they have.

I use Bockingford Inkjet Double Sided Watercolour Paper and print my own images. A3 and A4 sizes are on Amazon
