Yes
Just smashed the screen on my MBP and it looks like a retina replacement is going to cost me an absolute packet.

Luckily I've got a MacBook Air to use in the meantime, but I'm contemplating leaving the screen and using the money to get a good monitor to run off the MacBook.

Other than the Thunderbolt display, what should I be looking at?

not the thunderbolt display. terrible things and not worth the money.

dell 27 if you can afford one.

Is that the insanely priced Ultrasharp HD one? If so, I think that's out of my price range.

whats your budget?

theres currently a del 30" in the classifieds for 300 i think?
I'm in the UAE so classifieds isn't really an option for me. Was looking at £500 max really as that's roughly how much the replacement screen would set me back.

How about a Dell 2415Q? It is a 4K IPS Monitor from Dell with two mini-Display Port inputs and also a passthrough. I am well please with mine.

This would be ideal to be honest but I can't find a frigging stockist here in the UAE

Doesn't amazon.co.uk ship to UAE for non-uk customers? I just looked and it seems to be 20.99 extra....Not too bad I guess...

Nope.

I can get Dell monitors but not that specific model.

Do you have experience of any others?

I looked at many UHD/4K monitors but to me it would only be that one in 24" or the 27" or alternatively the 34" Ultra Wide model. But the latter two are getting quite expensive.

I have a AOC 27" UHD monitor connected to my MBP, it's grand

Yes that is the one! Decent price as well.

What about a Dell u2515h or a Dell u2715h? Both 1440p monitors, both very nice indeed. Around £250 for the 25 inch and £350 for the 27 inch.
