Hello there
can anyone recommend a good lighting book , i shoot mainly architectural interiors and exteriors detail shots ect , i was wondering weather a good book on product photography lighting might be helpful , i have done the Scott Hargiss route but want something a bit more geared towards Architectural as apposed to real estate photography ..
Thanks

Lighting is lighting and it makes very little difference what you're lighting, the principles are the same.

My recommendation is Light: Science & Magic

If you are shooting internal architecture and are doing larger buildings like cathedrals wouldn't you be better using a tripod and long exposure instead. I remember shooting a large cathedral a while ago and there were other photographers there. One of them was trying to light the entire place with one speedlite which he had absolutely no chance of achieving. Sure he would have lit the foreground and a reasonable distance but not the back of the cathedral. It depends what type and size of architecture you are shooting, if it is small to medium room sizes then I would say a speedlite would do the trick, but if it is huge architecture like cathedrals then you might be better off with doing long exposures using a tripod and possibly hdr to get the detail in the really dark and really light areas.

Here is a link to my flickr account. I shoot a lot of indoor architecture mainly cathedrals and use long exposures and hdr (sparingly).
