Best intervals for my time lapse

Hi, Just purchased myself a GoPro HD2 and whilst I'm photographing a sunrise at the beach I want to use the GoPro to do a time lapse of the sunrise. What do you think the best interval time will be to take a picture, if say I'm there for 1.5-2 hours. Thanks

If it was me I would be thinking of 1 shot every two seconds. Which if you where there for 2 hours, and using 24fps playback, should give you about 5 minutes video.

I'd try to get a 2 min film, the suns movement would be more apparent too making it more interesting.

So you would say 1 photo every 4-5 seconds?? any particular frame rate???

24 fps x 120 seconds = 2880 frames.

1.5 hours = 90 mins

2880/90 = 32 frames a min or to make things simple 1 shot every 2 seconds.

Personally I would be looking to get less than 2min... it may not be what you're after but if you look at films and TV that use timelapses, they are usually only a few secs long. Why not try recording a few short ones and editing them together?

Personally I would go for something like 15-20 second intervals over a two hour period, that should give you around 20secs of footage at 24p if done correctly

Agree! Any longer and it can start to get boring quickly, I'd aim to record 20 secs just so you have room to edit around the 10 secs of 'action'

Don't forget though you can always use a video editing programme to speed things up further. I would argue better to shoot too many frames than too few.
