Yes
I have previously had access to a Canon EOS 300D digital SLR camera which I primarily used for web site photography and which I felt did the job. I am however now `between cameras` and on the market for another digital SLR camera. I would probably be happy enough to buy something decent second hand but there comes the problem. I really want to keep within a budget of around £250-£300 - does anyone have any recommendations???

Thanks for the responses. Had a quick look at the Nikon D40 but it says it is 6.1mp whereby the camera I had used previously was 6.3mp and whilst most of the images are for use online we do retain all images in a high resolution should they be required for print.

Checked out the Sony A200 which says 10.2 mega pixel effect - not sure what that means??? Does it have 10.2 mega pixels or not???

Thanks for the reply Billybob99 - I had a look on your website - are those pictures taken with a Sony A200?

Don't forget to check out the small Olympus kit.

The kit lenses are really good and with the 4/3rds design they have twice the reach (so 40-150 = 80-300 on 35mm)

I have owned Canon which are good too, but preferred the Olympus Super Control panel which as a novice I found excellent.

I'm not a brilliant photographer but you are welcome to check out my Flickr account if you like. Also check out the various Olympus user groups, Four thirds Group and E-Group

My teenage Son has an E420 and my teenage daughter uses my E520 with a selection of good quality and reasonably priced zuiko lenses.

All this said the best thing to do is to equip yourself with some memory cards and get out and try some equipment if you can

Thanks for the replies. I am most impressed with all your photography skills!!! Had a very quick look at Olympus but not sure if it would come in on budget. I`m not nearly as skilled as you guys as I tend to take all my pictures using the same setting - a bit like my washing machine but given my business is now entirely online feel I need to learn to get creative with my photography skills hence my desire to stick with a digital SLR camera and something which is not too daunting to someone who can`t even be bothered to read the instruction manual.

Also - thoughts on second hand or new, e-bay or reputable retailer?
