Hi... Can anyone recommend a camera that can compete with gopro for video quality 4k 60fps but also take good stills? From the UK... Thanks

Yes, it's called a Gopro! I've not seen anything yet that I feel genuinely competes with one when it comes to the full 4K video package including image stabilisation. From the YouTube test/review reserch I've done, the cheaper you go, the worse it seems to get too.

Do you need a gopro style camera? If not, the Fuji xt-3 video quality far exceeds a go pro.

No not necessarily need gopro style. I would love that fuji but it's a bit expensive for me

Perhaps see how much you can get a GoPro Hero 8 for these days, perhaps a lightly used on in full working order with some sort of warranty for a reputable dealer? I seen some reviews whereby the latest Hero 9 can freeze and the touch screen is a bit slow. So perhaps an 8 at the right money may give better bang for buck whilst still giving similar performance?

I looked into this having had a panasonic camcorder for many years. it depend of course on what you want to pay but I found the Sony FDR-AX53 to exceed my expetations. It really boils down to if you want videos or stills. However In 4k video mode the camcorder frame rate in the UK is 25fps, the record mode I have at 100Mbps, so don't get confused between the two.
I don't really know if you have considers everything apart from frame rate. things like poor lighting conditions - zoom range- recording time length - sound- to name but a few. What swung it fore me was having an internal gimbal. Also the hotshoe has contacts fo a mike(apart from the built in stereo mike) so no cables hanging about. What i do like it the quality of a frame taken from a video which is an alternative to just using the stills option.

You say cheap? Cheap and quality are not a good mix in my book anyway This one of mine I got for £649 new, the company had mispriced it when it should have bee £699, so I grabbed it befor they realised the mistake

I presume you have a 4k monitor ? I just bought one and the difference is amazing from the 1080 p monitors

captured frame and cropped to the extreme

the video it was taken from. I was about 10 ft away

Panasonic GX80 - under 300 (IIRC mine cost 215 with extras!)
Lenses start from free if you go vintage plus cost of adapter, 10-20, or go native like the 12-32 probably around 60-80 second hand. (I spent about 67.50 on a sigma 60mm and about the same on a 12-32)

I reckon I spent about £365 plus the vintage lenses I already owned, and I think for what you can do with it, there is no better bargain for a 4K + Stills camera, with IBIS.
