Yes
So after getting my D3 I'm looking out now for a couple of CF cards and a fast/reliable reader

What do you guys reccomend, and where from?

Cheers

I just bought the lexar professional USB 3.0 reader, and a 16GB lexar 1000x CF from Amazon (cheapest I found)

I think it's one of the best reader, the lexar 1000x card tested about ~120mb/s read&write on my laptop with usb3.

sweet, I have less money
went for a delkin devices 700x one, 16GB UMDA6 for about £44 inc.
reader? well USB3.0 one or a PCIexpress one if you're using a laptop
sandisk extreme are supposedly, good and lexar as above,
not all readers are created equal, you really get what you pay for imho

I'd second that Lexar card reader, very nicely made and very quick

USB 3.0 fast enough on a HP Pavilion - not sure if it has 2.0 or 3.0 USB ports - heading to check :)

USB 2.0 ports in the curent laptop

Sandisk Extreme cards Vs lexar 1000x cards???

True enough .. bought a usb3 reader off ebay (China) for £10 as my laptop reader can only do SD cards and I use both SD and CF.

Arrived a couple of days ago and the CF part doesn't work .. will cost me more to return it (with signature) than it did to start with. :bonk:

I have a little multi-card reader off eBay that I used for XD and SD carrds - took about 25mins to download 10 photos off a Sandisk 40mb/sec CF card!

that's tricky!!!
i've found some terrible ones
I have this one
Akasa AK-CR-01

not a brand leader but pretty quick
faster than the one I've purchased afterwards, which technically should have been faster

i'm not saying the one i bought is the best but it can read pretty much anything you put in it, it folds down to keep the slots dust free when not in use & the clear & white plastic matches my apple keyboard.
seems pretty fast so far. about £17 with free delivery from amazon or similar retailers ;)

a link picked at random from the net..

£1.99 off evil-bay :D

i'll get a USB 3 one when i get a bigger CF card. but all USB 3 readers are not designed for portability, you'll want a small reader for your bag.

Lexar do a nice little external, dual-slot USB 3.0 reader for £12. Very quick, sturdy and not too obtrusive.

I should be receiving my Dual slot, (SD CF), Lexar usb3 Pro card reader at some point tomorrow.. Cost me £22 from Amazon.

^ That's the one I went for. The Lexar Pro dual slot USB 3.0
I'll make full use of the USB 3.0 when I get round to upgrading my laptop (if I ever stop buying camera gear)

Also got 2 8Gb 60Mb/s cards, 1 Sandisk & 1 Lexar - just to compare

Whole lot delivered for around £73 which I think is great! :)

Just to confirm for anyone looking for cards & a reader

I ordered from Mymemory.co.uk on Monday night, one of the cards came on Wednesday the rest came on Thursday - not bad at all to N.Ireland

Here's the best part...

The little multifunction reader I had in the laptop bag from eBay took 49 minutes to transfer 1.7Gb of photos

Just to compare with the Lexar USB 3.0 reader - I transfered the same folder to/from the new cards and timed them. 57 seconds HELL YES!
