Confirmed today what I had suspected for a while... when the 40mm M-Rokkor is set at infinity, a very very distant object still shows as split in the rangefinder patch. :(

Is this something one could do a DIY fix on, or is this a send-away job?:help:

Inside the Leica M Mount there is a tiny screw at 12 O clock, inside the little arm at with the roller on it, that changes the adjustment for front and back focus. I'd guess there is also something similar for the Bessa! But i'm afraid that i've never used one personally.

On my Bessa R2, the adjustment screws were under the hotshoe. I found it really hard to get it correct in both planes.

I'm sure I found some instructions online.

Good luck!

Thanks Richard and Des. There does not appear to be such a screw, Richard; as Des says it appears you have to at least take the hot shoe off. I found this set of instructions from Arran Salerno, which is perhaps what you are referring to, Des. However, they look a little daunting for me.

I'm guessing that provided I keep away from f/2, I'll probably be OK with a slight bit of inaccuracy in focusing. I gather it's a 10 minute job for an expert, so I think next time I'm in Edinburgh I'll drop it in to Cameratiks and see if he can fix it.

Aye Chris, that's the page I found.
It was quite a while ago but I remember it was a bit fraught and I never got it quite to my satisfaction.

There was another post that emphasised aligning using an object at least a mile away... but since much nearer objects can't be brought into alignment whether the lens is at infinity or not, that's not the problem.

I guess I should stick the lens on the CL and make sure it's not the culprit...
