Half general discussion/advice seeking half 'meeting places' thread.

I'm looking at going to Spa in 2010 for the GP for three days and camping and was after advice from anyone who has been before. It is working out at the moment at just over £300 for the ticket, car parking and camping pitch for 3 days each including Eurotunnel - I think that is a lot!!! Can anyone suggest a cheaper way of doing it? Are there any good B&B's around that may not be booked yet?

Do I need to buy two camping tickets or is it 168e for a pitch rather than per person? I'm hoping per pitch ;-)

So, who else is going? Always enjoyed F1, went to Donnington back in '95 for the European GP when Senna won but never been too bothered about going to watch one, until last year when I went to Bahrain and Abu Dhabi. This year I'm going to Silverstone (already got tickets) plus Spa and maybe Abu Dhabi again, although date conflicts with Wales Rally GB.

Advice on Spa appreciated.

Alot??? Went to Barcelona this year, the 3 day pass, flights, hotel and spending money came close to £1000

For £300 you getting a great sporting event and a great photo opp for in comparision, small money

It is compared to tickets for Bahrain including flights were £200, albeit from Dubai.

I am comparing the prices to UK, which everyone thinks is a rip-off, at £117 for weekend ticket plus only £35 for camping...

Spa is highly regarded as the best race in track in the world so, if you have £300, then do it! If you dont, dont go. Simple!

Yeah I think the uk GP is a rip off, why I chose to go to Spain, enjoy the surroundings and cheaper food/beer, turned it into a lads long weekend away!!

I would be happy to pay £300 for the Belgium trip you outlined (so would the wife, extra £600 odd for her!! LOL)

End of the day its only expensive if you think\deem it to be. If you want to go and are happy to pay the price, then its all good??

From what I remember, and dont quote me on it, it was looked into but no action was taken, as far as I remember.

I understand it's a fantastic circuit and also realise it's not a lot in the grand scheme of things.

Do I need to buy two camping 'tickets' or do you simply buy for a pitch - any help from people who've done this before is appreciated.

I hope so, nice track, would be a shame to see it die

On the ticket front what does it say on it? I know at most UK tracks its person, most external campsites its per pitch which includes one car and 4 persons.

This is the problem - it doesn't give any more information. If it's per person it means another £135 - that is £135 each for camping for 3 days. No car parking included, that is another 18e per day although thinking about it surely I wouldn't need to park for three days as car would stay for three days (if you get my thinking).?

Hmm in that case will be best to give the agent a bell, £135 per person would be a complete rip off, as you can get hotels for less then that. Had a quick check on the F1 site ticket for tickets.

Sound advice from above, call the agent for clarification, then you know 100%

thats where I camp when I'm at Spa
Its just outside Spa town itself, so you can walk down the hill to the pubs, or they have a bar and pool at the campsite.
Its not walking distance to the circuit though, you'll need to drive.
My guess is its probably sold out already anyway.

Might be worth going to the Spa 1000kms or the 24 Hours instead. You wouldnt get the atmos of the GP, but you'll get some room to move, and much more racing for your money. You'll also be able to do it for a fraction of the price and be able to get much better photos.
